Behind The Brand

Describe the woman you design for…

For the bride that stands boldly in her individuality and who confidently lives as she is – a masterpiece of her own making. She is all about writing her own rules, walking her own runway, being her own statement. She is the star of her own show and the author of her many adventures. Unbound by convention, she seeks the extraordinary in her journey and in her wedding dress – a design that is worthy of her soul’s expression. All designs are available in sizes 2-28.

What is your most popular piece?

Our Sierra. She is unique, colourful and romantic in design. Knowing that comfort is as important as style, our signature fusion construction combines the freedom of soft, weightless fabrics and unrestrictive skirts to keep you carefree and footloose. Accentuating the feminine form without sacrificing class or flair, all designs contain just enough bodice construction to highlight and support where needed.

What advice would you give to brides-to-be?

Understand and embrace the concept that no bride is the same. Love who you are and choose the dress who represents you. Fall in love with the process of scrolling through images on Instagram, Pinterest, and magazines to find the dress and the brand that truly resonates with who you are. This day is about you and about love, so embrace it and make memories that will stay with you for a lifetime.

As a designer, what tips do you have for brides to get the most out of their fittings?

This is one of the most exciting days in the wedding process…finding the ‘one’.

As we are a small designer brand, we do not have our own personal showroom. Our designs can be purchased through one of our carefully selected, like-minded brand partners who are just as immersed and enlivened by brides as we are. Carefully select your desired retailer prior to arrival to know their fitting times, what samples they have available, and of course, ask if you can bring some bubbles! Come with your hair and makeup similar to how you will have it styled on the day, wear nude underwear and bring heels. It is amazing how much more you connect with a dress if you feel beautiful inside and out!

Bring the right people, the people you truly want there. Do not be afraid to go alone. The stylists will guide you through the process and we promise that they will give you honest advice.

Do you offer a custom design service for brides? If so, how long does it take to make a custom piece?

Unfortunately not at this stage. All of our pieces are made to order from our designer collections. We recommend ordering your gown 6-12 months prior to your wedding day from one of our recommended retailers.

What advice do you give to brides to care for their gown?

Understand the fabric. Will it need to be steamed prior to wearing? How does it move? Fully understanding your dress prior to your wedding day will allow for your gown to still remain perfect until the end of the night. Dry clean as soon as possible after the big day, and ask them to carefully preserve your dress for you in a cardboard box with acid-free paper. Or why not give the dress a little snip and re-wear it as a cocktail dress, or even a top and skirt?!

All about Justin Alexander

Justin Alexander debuted on the bridal fashion scene as T&G Bridal in Brooklyn, New York in 1946, a time when women were renouncing the idea of clothing as mere necessity and embracing fashion as a way to express femininity, confidence, and beauty. Since its humble roots, Justin Alexander has become a contemporary designer and manufacturer of mid- to high-end bridal gowns and accessories. Each design is distinctly recognised for its vintage inspiration paired with progressive details. Recognising that a bride’s taste in fashion is as complex as the woman herself, the company has diversified itself to include the marquee collection Justin Alexander, in addition to the noteworthy designs of Justin Alexander Signature, Adore by Justin Alexander, Lillian West, and Sincerity Bridal.
